Payasam

A dinner party favourite, it contains tender coconut pieces dunked in coconut milk (prepared with MAGGI® coconut milk powder), which is mildly flavoured with aromatic spices like cardamom. Don’t forget to garnish it with dry fruits like cashew nuts and raisins.

How to Make Payasam

Prepare Payasam

  • Step 1

    Cooking the Moong Dal and Sabudana:

    • a. Wash and cook the moong dal in Maggi® Coconut Milk Thin until the lentils turn mushy.
    • b. Simultaneously, in a separate vessel, cook the sabudana in 4 cups of water until it turns transparent, soft, and mushy.
  • Step 2

    Adding Jaggery and Sabudana:

    • a. Once the moong dal is cooked, add powdered jaggery to it. Be cautious to prevent burning; stir continuously until the jaggery dissolves.
    • b. After the jaggery is dissolved, add the cooked sabudana and Maggi® Coconut Milk Thick.
  • Step 3

    Preparing the Seasoning:

    • a. Heat ghee in a seasoning pan and fry the broken cashews until they turn slightly brown. Then, add cardamom powder and the fried cashews to the Payasam.
