Solkadhi Ingredients Ingredients
  • Maggi® Coconut Milk Thick
    625 ml
  • Water for soaking
    1 L
  • Chopped Coriander Leaves
    100 gms (for garnish)
  • Dried - Kokums
    45-50 pcs
  • Salt
    To taste
  • Water to be added later
  • For Tempering
  • Any neutral oil
    5 tsp
  • Mustard Seeds
    3 tsp
  • Cumin Seeds
    3 tsp
  • Curry leaves
    20 pcs
  • Medium Garlic Cloves Crushed
    12 pcs
  • Green Chilies
    halved and 5-6 pcs seeds removed
  • Asafoetida (hing)
    1 pinch
How to Make Solkadhi

Prepare Solkadhi

  • Step 1
    Rinse and soak Kokum in 1 liter of water for 30 minutes.
  • Step 2
    After soaking, squeeze the Kokum with your hands into the soaking water.
  • Step 3
    Strain the Kokum water and further extract the leftover juice by mashing against a strainer.
  • Step 4
    Add 1.5 liters of water to the Kokum liquid.
  • Step 5
    Add Maggi® Coconut Milk to the Kokum water.
  • Step 6
    Heat oil in a thick kadhai and temper mustard seeds, cumin, followed by curry leaves, hing, and deseeded green chilies.
  • Step 7
    Add crushed garlic cloves and cook for 30-40 seconds until lightly golden in color.
  • Step 8
    Garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves.
  • Step 9
    Serve chilled or at room temperature, as preferred.
